With Putin's invasion of Ukraine, grain shortages began to emerge in the world. Russia and Ukraine, which constitute a very large part of the world grain import, could not export grain to the world from their ports in the Black Sea due to the ongoing war. President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the issue of grain shipments from Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at separate meetings. The Kremlin said the two leaders exchanged views on "coordinating efforts to ensure the safety of maritime transport in the Black Sea and the export of grain to world markets." Erdogan told Zelensky that Turkey wants peace in Ukraine and is working on a UN plan to export grain from Ukraine to world markets, according to a reading by the Turkish presidency.
We continue with Russia, Nord Stream 1, the largest pipeline carrying Russian gas to Germany, will be closed for 10 days for maintenance. The maintenance on the Nord Stream 1 pipeline will take place on 11-21 July. Operator Nord Stream AG confirmed in a statement that the pipeline shutdown has begun today as scheduled and gas flow will drop to zero. Markets and companies worry that the shutdown could be extended due to the Russia-Ukraine war. The Nord Stream 1 pipeline carries 55 billion cubic meters of gas annually from Russia to Germany under the Baltic Sea. Italian energy company ENI has announced that they have received notification that Russian energy company Gazprom will make a new cut and supply approximately 21 million cubic meters of gas for today.
Israel's new Prime Minister, Yair Lapid, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas held a phone call, believed to be the first such contact in five years between Israeli and Palestinian leaders. A brief statement from Lapid's office said the two men had "spoken about the need for continued cooperation and the need to maintain quiet and calm". In the statement, it was stated that Abbas congratulated Lapid on his becoming Prime Minister, and Lapid conveyed his best wishes to the Palestinian leader before Eid al-Adha, the Muslim holiday that will begin on Friday. The Palestinian news agency also reported on the phone call, adding that President Abbas told his wish that “peace and stability prevail in the region as soon as possible.”

The James webb telescope, which was started in 2004 and completed in 2015 after spending 10 billion dollars, and placed into orbit in 2021, sent us its first images from the universe today.
